bluelogobuttonsm.jpg (2026 bytes) A State or local law enforcement official begins the process by requesting that the agency be accepted for participation in the program. This is accomplished by the law enforcement agency completing a Law Enforcement Agency Datasheet and submitting it to the Ohio LESO. (LEA Data Sheet) The Law Enforcement Official will also submit a mission statement attesting to the powers of the agency, i.e. arrest and apprehension.  Up to four individuals can be listed as screeners.  Screeners are authorized to request and sign for property.  A weapons point of contact is also required to be designated.
bluelogobuttonsm.jpg (2026 bytes) Ohio LESO sends it to the DLA LESO, where the data are entered into a database. A new datasheet must be submitted whenever a change in screeners or responsible personnel occurs at the agency.
bluelogobuttonsm.jpg (2026 bytes) DLA LESO responds to the receipt of the datasheet by sending a letter to the agency through the Ohio LESO authorizing designated LEA officers to screen and receive property at all DRMOs.(LEA Screening Letter)
